As a Vice President at Right Management, Susan translated organizations’ goals for transformation into manageable opportunities for individual and team development. Susan managed her own consultancy, working with technology executives who needed to rapidly shift their organizations. She has extensive experience in the US financial services industry leading national marketing and sales teams, in the technology sector, launching new products to international markets, and in the non-profit sector developing resources for educational expansion and endowments.

2:25 PM Promoting Mental Health and Wellness for Leaders

Despite the growing awareness of employee mental health issues as a business concern, the discussion tends to ignore the needs of leaders. Research indicates that leaders are at a greater risk for depression and anxiety, yet they are less likely to seek out help for it. In fact, according to research that Refinery conducted in Q1 of this year, (of which 67% were either senior leaders or C-Suite), the issue of mental illness being a stigma in the leadership ranks is still vast and deep.

In this presentation led by Refinery CEO Susan Eick and Civic Action VP of Initiatives Linda Weichel, we will explore the reality of what leaders in Canadian organizations are dealing with in regard to mental illness, why they don’t seek out help, and what the impact of this has on their organizations as a whole.
