Adzhar joined Maxis in July 2014. Before Maxis he was the Group Head of People in the AirAsia Group for about 5 years. He was part of the management team that grew AirAsia into the largest low cost carrier in Asia and winner of the Best Low Cost Carrier in the World multiple times.
Before AirAsia, Adzhar was Head of HR Development for DiGi Telecommunications for about 5 years. He was part of the management team that helped to transform DiGi into the company that gave the best return to shareholders in the entire Asia Pacific telecommunications sector three years in a row through, as Asian Wall Street Journal puts it, creating “a great culture”. Adzhar’s earlier experiences were as the Group Head of HR for Sime Darby Berhad, Malaysia’s largest conglomerate; Country Head of HR for Malaysia and Brunei for Standard Chartered Bank Malaysia Berhad; and was part of the start-up team of his current company Maxis. His earliest experiences was as Group HR Manager of a group of US-owned MNC operations then known as Baxter International Inc, as well as Personnel Officer in a semi-conductor company in Penang.
Adzhar has conducted training and presented papers for the Malaysian Institute of Management (MIM), the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM), the Malaysian Employers Federation (MEF) and other bodies. He has also presented papers in a number of International Labour Organization (ILO) events as well as other conferences in London, Geneva, Zurich, Bangkok, Mumbai, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur. He also spoke at the World Islamic Economic Forum in Kuala Lumpur, the World Engineering Congress in Bangkok and delivered a keynote address at a special conference on innovation at Intel Corp., in Santa Clara, California. In 2017 Maxis won the Asian Human Capital Award, presented by the Human Capital Leadership Institute (HCLI) and the Ministry of Manpower Singapore.
