Chris Young serves as the Director of Workforce Development, a section of the Human Resources Division at the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT).
After serving in the U.S. Army and completing undergraduate work at the University of Texas, Chris served as a diplomat for the State Department where he led training programs overseas for foreign governments. In 2008, he left the State Department and went to work for a small business as a consultant in Washington D.C., building and implementing training programs for the intelligence community before moving back to Austin and joining TxDOT in 2015.
Chris has undergraduate degrees from the University of Texas, an MBA from the University of Colorado, and a PhD in industrial-organizational psychology from Grand Canyon University. Chris is the current Chair of the Texas State Agency Coordinating Committee’s Subcommittee for Training & Development, the Acting Chair of the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials’ (AASHTO) Technical Training Solutions program, an alternate representative to both the Knowledge Management and HR Committees of AASHTO, and is a member of 2 Transportation Research Board committees at the National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine.
