In this edition of the HR News Beat, Google says it spent $270,000 to close the wage gap for workers in 2017, plus Healogics, the nation’s largest provider of advanced wound care services, names its new chief human resources officer.

Google spends $270,000 to close pay gap

$270,000. That’s how much Google says it spent in 2017 to close the wage gap for workers. The tech company reviewed 89% of its workforce and found pay differences for 228 employees. The remaining 11% of their workforce is made-up of vice presidents and above. This isn’t the first time Google has had to deal with pay discrepancy issues. The Labor Department and former employees filed a class action lawsuit over the pay gap. Read more here.

Healogics Names New Chief Human Resources Officer

Healogics, Inc., the nation’s largest provider of advanced wound care services, today announced that it has appointed Lynn Merritt to serve as Chief Human Resources Officer. Merritt joined Healogics in 2015 as Vice President, Learning and Development. In this role, Merritt will provide strategic direction for all aspects of the human resources function with responsibility for talent acquisition and development, employee relations, compensation and benefits and HR information systems and analytics. Booz Allen Receives Defense Human Resources Activity Contract for Language Services

Booz Allen Hamilton will support the National Language Service Corps in recruitment, member activation, regulatory compliance and others areas under a $37.4 million contract from the Defense Human Resources Activity. The Defense Department said Wednesday the contract also involves language acquisition, information dissemination, proficiency certification and other functions through March 14, 2023.
